PB’s twisty take on the top five headlines of the day.
1. Need to lessen load on judiciary: Narendra Modi
Judges should be made accountable for their judgments and should be made to feel that they are sitting pretty on the tax payers money, both in service and in retirement. India should move to a jury based system of adjudication. Only then will there be the faintest chance that poor, deprived, financially backward people have justice.
2. Indian economy well-prepared for US Fed rate hike
The current account balance is likely to ease below one per cent of GDP this year, while the balance of payments is in surplus due to portfolio inflows. Though, domestic stock and money market may react negatively in the short-term whenever she raises the interest rates, there is little reason for India to fuss over rate hike.
3. Kejriwal says judges’ phones are being tapped, Centre denies allegation
The self made anarchist is at it again. Even if these allegations come off as disrespectful, what is wrong in going through with it, even if it distracts everyone from the more prominent and important issues. What is new here. Phones are being tapped all over the world to protect law abiding citizens.
4. India and China to continue talking on NSG membership, next meet soon
If NSG fails next 70% of Chinese goods may not enter Indian market. Even if China supports Pakistan and illegally occupy Arunachal Pradesh, the Chinese economy shall be derailed if India bans imports of Chinese goods.
5.8 SIMI terrorists who escaped Bhopal Central Jail killed in encounter
A good lesson for other inmates. Madhya pradesh police needs to be congratulated foe this swift and most needed action and at the same time whole of the jail system needs to be re visited.
