PB’s twisty take on the top five headlines of the day.
1. Elections don’t matter to me, more concerned about the welfare of farmers: PM Modi
Are these strong statements made because the chances in Uttar Pradesh and Punjab look iffy? One must execute a plan, without causing irresversible inconveniences and then, make claims of welfare on the pretext of citizensappreciation.
2. PM ‘spreading lies’ on demonetisation: Mamata
Change is always inconvenient and painful but is necessary to put things back into perspective with no guarantee that this will work. People will suffer and there will be losses but it is necessary for if it works the lives of the very same people and the future generation will be a lot more better. This is why the move is termed bold and risky.
3. Exchange of old Rs 500/1,000 notes to continue at RBI counters
This can be only where RBI has its operational branches, which is very less in number. If RBI can cater to the public need, it means sufficient money is available, then what is blocking them in supplying to currency chest of banks?
4. Priyanka Gandhi’s hand in Congress roping in Sidhu
Here Siddu says he wants to serve the people of Punjab and joins congress with an admiration to Priyanka saying she resembles Indira Gandhi. Sidhu has made a blunder; he left BJP to join AAP as their CM face, but when they refused he has floated his own party. When demonization left him with no money for elections, he has no option left except joining congress.
5. Ahead of Sartaj Aziz trip, India says stop terror, then talk
Sartaj Aziz is a hard nut to crack. He should be fairly warned not expect any dialogue with Indian officials outside the regional conference.
