PB’s twisty take on the top five headlines of the day.
1. Transgressions by Chinese troops reduced by over 50%, while India builds up border infra
An important factor for India in the defence of this frontier is the improvement of road connectivity in the forward areas, giving Indian troops the capabilities to quickly mobilise in response to a contingent.
2. SC to hear if names of bank defaulters can be made public
Supreme Court has taken a tough view on NPA. Sadly inequalities are growing and already its consequences are visible. Bank executives backed and pressured by politicians colluded to siphon public funds. When it is public money people have every right to know how the nations money is being used.
3. Government will ensure LPG connection to all: Narendra Modi
This is a welcome decision. The regulation and suypervision of LPG Distribution needs to be made more stringent and free from all sorts of malpractices. The supply is erratic and inordinately delayed. Once this is looked into, the process will be beneficial.
4. Samajwadi Party peace meet ends in a scuffle between Akhilesh and uncle Shivpal
The damage has already been done. Will Mulayam able to apply his veto power to keep the SP members together is something to watch out for. Anyhow, it is publicity before election, which be it negative or positive, will keep the party in limelight till the elections.
5. Cyrus Mistry removed as Tata Sons chairman, Ratan Tata returns as interim chief
If there is no value addition, it could be tolerated for some time. But, falling value is not acceptable. If he wanted to trim down by good riddance of revenue losing businesses as a first step, before he could choose new areas of investment, he was doing exactly what was needed.
Present losses are the outcome of wrong investments in the past. Cyrus Mistry inherited a troubled legacy and ended up as the scapegoat.
