PB’s twisty take on the top five headlines of the day.
1. One cut and a revised disclaimer: HC clears roads for Udta Punjab
Even though, nothing is above the law, it sounds really weird. Vishwaroopam had to undergo so many cuts, but then no one thought it was infringement on the creativity of the person, because people opposing it did not want to see the reality of Islamic terrorism in Afghanistan/Pakistan and other parts of world. But now when it comes to Udta Punjab, suddenly they realized that Creativity is absolute and No cuts can be done and only Certification is the job of CBFC.
Hopefully this is a step forward for other creative projects that deserve recognition.
2. In poll-bound UP, Modi plays development card
Unlike 2014, it will be different ball game this time around! BJP needs to use their think tank extensively. BJP need to find a channel for how it can get these messages across on what it is doing and what it intends to do to reach the people directly and in time. It needs to find/build up the right media to do that.
3. Akali govt benefits from drug trade in Punjab: Rahul Gandhi
Drug dependancy doesnt come about suddenly but develops over years. This malaise in punjab has been there for years even when congress were in power. The work regarding elimination should have begun then.
4. Sensex plunges 263 points, rupee hits 67-mark in early trade
Meanwhile, oil prices slipped again, extending last week’s losses and mirroring a sell-off across Asian markets fuelled by worries about the global economy.
5.JD(S) suspends 8 rebel MLAs for cross-voting in RS polls
It seems that before the end of congress’ term no MLA will be left with JDS. Deve Gowda said, “all the eight members have been suspended and notice have been issued to them.” while the rebels blamed Godwa for the party crisis and say that they still haven’t received any notice.
