As he marched towards the White House, The Republican took the key swing states of Ohio, North Carolina and Florida early this morning. Financial markets around the world plummeted as votes for Mr Trump stacked up. Mrs Clinton’s hopes of a swift victory faded as the Republican picked up a series of states early on and maintained his momentum. The leader of Ukip, Nigel Farage, described the result as “bigger than Brexit.
2. Economists see pain, then gain for India after bank note shock
The removal of 500 and 1,000 rupee bank notes to flush out money hidden from the tax man has led to confusion and anger among Indians, who cannot access cash from ATMs. But analysts said that the effects would be offset as prices, especially in the large real estate sector, come down, raising optimism among bond investors that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) would be more willing to ease monetary policy.
