PB’s twisty take on the top five headlines of the day.
1. Pakistan censors Rajnath Singh’s speech in Islamabad
Rajnath Singh going to Pakistan was a good move by India.Nawaz says Kashmir is not internal matter of India and is central to Pakistan’s foreign policy and his Pakistan counterpart opted not to shake hand with him. Shows that Pakistan is a rouge nation. It also exposes the China-Pak nexus.
2. AAP releases first list of 19 candidates for Punjab
Bhagwant Mann to lead campaign?! Message goes to electorate that Congress and BJP wanted to see whom AAP will field from various constituencies.
Risks are always more in being the first one to release list. AAP seems to be giving a posture of being confident.
3. Court blow to AAP : HC rules all Delhi decisions to go through L-G
The verdict given by the Court should be welcomed by one and all. It is a befitting lesson to Kejriwal, who has been fighting in the streets for quite some time by now. It is high time Keriwal dispensed with his fighting in the streets forthwith and concentrate on the development of Delhi, which he has, more or less, thrown to winds.
4. BJP needs another Modi to regain lost ground in Gujarat
The BJP, faces three big red flags in Gujarat. The first is the Dalit backlash. The second is the Patidar agitation led by Hardik Patel. The third is the ineffective governance by chief minister Anandiben Patel. After that, there is Congress trying to regain momentum and many by-standers have predicted a congress win n 2017. To avoid that, they need the dynamic face and leadership which got them Gujarat the previous time.
5. Gujarat HC quashes government ordinance on 10% quota for EWS
People agitate, governments buckle and the courts step in. The attempt now should be to slowly phase them out totally. The initial 10 years have become almost 70 now and the show goes on. Such reservations are aimed only at gaining political brownie points. If this is permitted to go on there will be 100% reservations and no open area.
